(Technical specification)


Preliminary remarks:


The subject of the tender is the manufacture, supply and installation of thermally insulated aluminium doors as specified below.

The options available within the system regarding permitted leaf sizes, leaf weights and the infill thicknesses for leaves and fixed glazing are specified in the system manufacturer´s technical documentation.


The following technical requirements must be met:



Profile technology


Frame depth: 65 mm

Leaf depth: 65 mm


Exterior face widths:

Frame profiles from 51 mm to 155 mm

Special frame profiles from 48 mm to 71 mm

Transom profiles from 73 mm to 290 mm

Bottom rail profiles from 107 mm to 147 mm

Inward opening leaf profiles 73 mm, 83 mm and 98 mm

Outward opening leaf profiles 98 mm, 108 mm and 123 mm



Construction characteristics


Optimized isotherm line through symmetrically arranged insulation zones with all profile combinations.


Complete concealment of the leaf and frame insulation zones through clipped-in, flush plastic profiles.


The locking mechanism located within the rebate is installed using patented, certified non-extractable, direct-screw coupling in the cavity insulation web.


Lock forend and strike plates are embedded flush between the rebate cover profiles using plastic adapters.


The main and leaf profiles as three-chamber hollow profiles, edge radius <= 0.5 mm. Flush surface door leaves with 5 mm cover.


Glazing principle (glazing beads, setting blocks, sealing system) analogous to the window system with all round EPDM glazing seal on the inside and outside.


Compression seal made of EPDM around all 4 sides of the door leaf. Additional compression seal on three sides, anchored on the frame.


Barrier-free threshold with thermally separated threshold profile (14 mm high) and centre seal stopper.


Door leaf with continuous, mitre-joined door leaf profile, optionally also on 3 sides in combination with bottom rail profile.


Level parity between leaf and fixed glazing bases using a special, thermally insulated profile combination for the lateral part.


Pane partitioning bars as thermally isolated composite profiles.


Frame connections

Mitred corners with system-specific, cavity-filling cast aluminium corner angles, mechanically secured with expansion function and bonded by a limited volume glue injection procedure from one side.


Butt joints

With system-specific, cavity-filling aluminium profile connectors and a limited volume glue injection.

Open joint cross-section in the blunt connection insulation zone must be sealed closed using system-specific moulded parts and injection moulding technology.

Special design doors with diverging details


a) Reinforced door construction

Heavy-duty profiles

Construction depth: 67 mm


b) Door leaf design


- with continuous door leaf or

- base profile bonded below the stub


c) Threshold design


- Barrier-free threshold with thermally separated threshold profile (14 mm high) and centre seal stopper

- Barrier-free with threshold profile with no thermal separation (6 mm high) and sliding threshold seals or

- Barrier-free with threshold profile (crescent threshold) with no thermal separation (4 mm high) and drop-down seal


d) Shape matching

The outer glass rebate of the door leaf and/or the frame profile can be modified to match the classic design using a 30° additional profile.


e) Cover with double-leaf doors


- with thermally insulated double casement mounting profiles, with no insulation level staggering, or

- mutual overlapping of both leafs.

In both options, the upper connection joint from the meeting stiles of the leaves to the frame are covered using polyamide formed components.


f) Push-pull door

Double-leaf, one leaf opening to the inside, the other leaf opening to the outside, each opening independently of the other.

Meeting stiles without double casement supplementary profile, both the leaves mutually overlapping in their overlaps.


g) Finger protection door

The metallic cover fitting on the hinge side is replaced with a large, extremely malleable EPDM seal. 30 mm groove between frame and door leaf. Proof of resistance against driving rain is required.


h) Hinged door with panic function

Externally opening, single or double leaf. Double leaf doors are designed with no special seal and no special additional cover profile. The release capability as described in EN 14351-1 must be certified as a mandatory requirement.


f) Hinged door with fully glazed leaf

Matching the frame with the rebated additional profiles for the centre stop of the fully glazed leaf.


j) Double action door

Single and double leaf with integrated door closer. The hinge side design optionally with flush door leaf profile or with rounded profile look. Brush seals are used on all 4 sides inside and outside.



Thermal insulation


Heat transition coefficient of the profile system:

Uf = 1.8 to 2.1 W/(m²K) in compliance with EN ISO 10077: 2003


Thermal insulation with continuous PA 6.6 (plastic) isolating strips, flush with the face of the rebate, with 25% glass fibre content and an inlay consisting of hot melt wire on the face.


The U values included in the tender must be achievable without inserting additional insulation into the profile cavities.



Proofs and certifications


The suitability of the profile bonding (insulation web) must be proven by way of a national technical approval test certificate.


Proof of the stability of metal/plastic composite profiles in accordance with the Institute for Building Technology guideline (IfBt-Richtlinie).


Composite profile manufacture is exclusively carried out at the factory. The system manufacturer, profile press plant and manufacturer of the composite materials are all certified in accordance with the ISO 9000 series of standards.


The composite profile system comes with quality assurance and a manufacturer's guarantee, also covering subsequent surface treatments (anodising, wet and powder coating).


System certification of the door systems in compliance with RAL-GZ 996; Kl. 3A in accordance with DIN EN 12207.



Fittings technology


A butt hinge system suitable for outward and inward opening doors. The position and fixing method has no influence on the thermal insulation properties of the profile shells. Hinges can be positioned directly; post-installation mounting is possible.


Doors in escape and rescue routes compliant with EN 1125 and EN 179.


As a matter of principle, only fitting technology that has been certified by the system manufacturer is used.

The fittings documented in the programme and processing documentation guarantee correct functioning when used in conjunction with the profile system.


When using third-party hardware, evidence of suitability and usability must be provided by the respective hardware manufacturer.





Drainage and air pressure equalisation

Glazing rebate bottom ventilation secured with bridging blocks designed specifically for this system.


Front recess drainage or air pressure equalisation covered within the glazing rebate and via the profile chambers with no externally visible cover. Drainage covers only in the fixed field bottom rail.




The stated specifications are based on the design characteristics, materials and processes of the WICONA - door system WICLINE 65 evo in accordance with the enclosed system description; these are contractually binding performance requirements.
